Career |
Originally from the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, I began painting animals at an early age. Having always lived with cats, they gradually became my main subject and my own felines model for me on a regular basis, both in natural portraits and as fun characters. I am always happy to accept pet portrait commissions and aim to capture the personality of the animal as well as its looks. I exhibit most years in Sheffield's "Wild About Art" wildlife exhibition and was a finalist five years running in the "Paint a Wildlife Subject" competition. Last year, I illustrated a childrens' book called "Rickie the Raccoon Learns about Recycling" for Canadian author, Giovanna Lagana and am presently working on a second book with her. I would love the opportunity to do more childrens' books. I work mostly in gouache or coloured pencil. I am a signature member of the UK Coloured Pencil Society and editor of their quarterly newsletter. I am also an active member of the Sale Moor Art Club.. |
