About Modelreg
The Register of Artists' Models (RAM) is the UK professional organisation for life models. Our primary aim is to continue to bring about improvements in the status of the life model, as reflected in public image, working conditions and remuneration. We realise that to sustain these improvements, it is essential to maintain at a consistently high level the competence, conduct and reliability of our membership.

We publish the membership list four times a year, for the use of educational establishment and art clubs as well as individual artists and photographers. In London, we also run our Bare Facts Life Art Services, consisting of a model booking service for colleges and a number of 'drop-in' life drawing workshops where we audition new applicants for membership. In some areas outside London, there are Bare Facts affiliated workshops. Where there are no workshops or affiliated workshops, models may apply to join on the strength of references from two employers. Everyone involved in the running of RAM (including Bare Facts) is a life model of many years experience.

To offer our members a degree of security, a licence is required for the use of the membership list. This costs £10 per year for private use. For corporate use there is a one-off payment of £25. These licences can be revoked following serious complaints from models. Similarly, members can be expelled from the Register or cautioned following complaints from licence-holders about competence, conduct or reliability. A number of large establishments now employ only registered models as a matter of policy. More information about joining the Register or obtaining a licence may be found on our website.
